Introduction

Serengeti cats are remarkably agile. These flexible felines have certainly kept their ancestors’ talent for climbing. They can jump, leap and spring at will, but don’t worry, Serengeti cats are also (thankfully) particularly well behaved. This breed is also known for their firm sense of loyalty. Serengeti cats are doting pets, who will form a dedicated attachment to their owners. Once you’ve earned their trust, your Serengeti will bond with you for life.

Did you know? Serengetis are proper wild cats. As much as they adore being at home with an owner, there’s no forsaking this adventurous side to their spirit. In fact, Serengeti cats are known for climbing a cat tree, and gazing down at the room beneath them - as if they’re a jaguar watching the activity in a jungle.

History

The Serengeti breed was first developed by the American biologist Karen Sausman. In fact, she actually developed the breed to make the general population more aware of issues that wildlife was facing, particularly amongst endangered species. Her aim was to develop cats that closely resembled the Serval - a breed of wild cat which originates from Africa.

Personality

Serengeti cats aren’t ones to be ignored. They’ve got quite the little miaow on them! In fact, much to their owners’ delight, these cats will often have a back and forth conversation with their favourite humans.

These cats are renowned for their agility, and they don’t need much of an excuse to show it off. These active cats will often catch their owners off-guard with an impromptu climb or zoom around the living room.
