Introduction
Mekong Bobtail cats are a super sweet little breed, which has won the hearts of cat-owners across the globe. These felines aren’t the loudest of the bunch, but what they lack in voice, they more than make up for in curiosity. Mekong Bobtails are inquisitive and curious cats, who love to explore the world around them (even if it is in their quieter, more subtle way).
The other key personality trait that Mekong Bobtail are known for is the strength of their loyalty. These cats are absolutely devoted to their owners, and when you’re at home, they’ll rarely stray from your side.
Did you know? Every Mekong Bobtails have their own unique tail. The tails of this breed are much shorter than a standard cat breed. Each Mekong Bobtail cat has its own distinctive tail size, shape and curve.
History
Mekong Bobtail cats originally come from Thailand. These cats also can be found in other Asian countries, including China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Iraq and Iran. According to some legends, it is possible that Mekong Bobtails could be the result of a cross breed between Siamese cats and Manx cats.
Up until recently, Mekong Bobtail cats were only known in South Asia. But now, this breed is immensely popular across the rest of the world.
Personality
Mekong Bobtail cats have an unwavering sense of loyalty. So much so, that these cats are often described as being as affectionate and doting as their canine counterparts.
These cats are sweet, loving and caring. If you love your Mekong Bobtail, they’ll return your affection ten fold.
In addition to their loving nature, Mekong Bobtails are also highly intelligent. This makes them remarkably easy to train (with a bit of patience, they can even learn tricks, too!).
