Introduction
Maine Coons are a large, elegant cat, with a rather regal nature (both in terms of their aesthetic and their temperament). Their long, soft and majestic fur have given Maine Coons a firm status as one of the world’s favourite breeds of cats - and it’s not hard to see why we’ve fallen so hard for these glamorous kitty cats.

History
As you’d expect from a cat of this class, Maine Coons have a long history. These cats originate from America, and they flourished in the state of Maine (where they get their namesake).
Their thick fur was perfect for keeping them warm, and they were very popular pets amongst farmers. This is because they are fantastic hunters and so were invaluable at keeping pests under control.
Personality
Much like their ancestors, today’s Maine Coons are still highly skilled hunters, and they make adept mouse catchers. These cats are remarkably intelligent. They are remarkably intuitive, and this skill also gives them the ability to fit right into a family home. Maine Coons are naturally curious and will treat your home like their territory, in the nicest way possible. To summarise - they love to protect, cuddle and learn.
