Introduction
There’s no denying that the Khao Manee cat breed is one of the most iconic cat breeds in the world, whose translated name literally means ‘White Gem’, and there’s really no better way to describe this cat. Beautifully aesthetic with fans and lovers all over the world, the Khao Manee will no doubt win your heart over and is sure to become one of the most favourable cats you’ve ever shared your life with.
History
As you can probably imagine from the name of this cat, the Khao Manee came from a somewhat noble background and was kept by the royal families of Thailand for centuries. There’s even written proof of this in a poem titled ‘Tamra Maew’, about the cat from the 14th Century.
It wasn’t until 1999, however, that the cat was first exported by a breeder known as Colleen Freymuth, who introduced the cat to the US, in which it then started to gain popularity around the Western world, growing steadily until it reached where it is today.
Personality
There’s no doubt about it that the Khao Manee is one of the most curious and playful cats around, and you’re going to absolutely love watching this kitty in action. There’s no place, crevice, or nook in your home that this cat won’t explore, and it’s so intelligent, it just loves to play games as much as possible. This is one of those cats that will even play fetch!
Due to the fun-loving and affectionate nature of this cat, this breed gets on very well with children and strangers alike, so you should have no problem introducing them into your household. Just make sure you actually are spending time with this cat because they do tend to suffer from loneliness!
