Introduction
It should come as no surprise as to why so many people love the Highlander Longhair cat breed. These cats are rather wild-looking in a beautiful and captivating way whose coats make them look like little lynxes, even though these cats are actually purely bred through domesticated breeds.
Rather new to the cat scene, Highlander Longhairs have already won the hearts of many, and it’s easy to see that their popularity is going to continue to peak over the coming years.
History
Highlander Longhairs are really new breeds and have only really been around since the early 2000s, which means there’s not really that much history to share. We do know that the breed has come about when breeders have mixed classic British Shorthair cats with Persian cats, which make it really easy to see where they get their unique looks from.
Both parent breeds have long been recognised as official breeds by cat breeding organisations around the world, and we’re sure it won’t be long before the Highlander Longhair follows suit. A few more years of breeding will eventually create a purebred standard that can then be accepted.
Personality
Highlander Longhairs are known for their active personalities, so don’t be surprised if you see yours running around playing and generally being free. This does mean you’re going to need a house with a lot of space and at least some kind of garden, and if you’re filling it with cat toys, then this will only make your cat happier.
You’ll also be happy to know this cat gets on well with strangers and children alike, so don’t be afraid to introduce new people in your life, but don’t be jealous when they start giving them affection. Highlander Longhairs just have a lot of love to give!
