Introduction
The Singapura is small in size, but sturdy in build and full of mischief. With extra-large eyes and ears, they have a super-cute appearance that makes them hard to resist, and their kitten-like playfulness makes them a joy to have around. Loving by nature, they like to have company, preferring to live with another cat or have the undivided attention of their people around the clock.
History
Native to Singapore, it’s believed that all Singapura cats descended from six “drain cats” taken from the streets of Singapore in the 1970s. Their exact heritage remains unclear, but it’s possible that the Singapura is a mix of Burmese and Abyssinian cat breeds. Their small size, loving nature, and playful attitude to life have made them popular pets around the world today.
Personality
Affectionate and inquisitive, the Singapura is a little cat that loves to be involved in everything that’s going on. They enjoy playing games and can be a little mischievous, but they also love to snuggle up on a cosy lap when it’s snooze time. With very fine coats, they feel the cold, making them suitable as indoor cats, but they can thrive in any type of home environment provided there’s someone around to keep them company most of the time. When they’re not asleep, the Singapura is guaranteed to be looking for entertainment.
