Russian Blue cats are the very embodiment of the term ‘glamour puss’. These sleek, sophisticated cats are renowned for their trademark, shimmering blue coat. Their personality is slightly more reserved than other cats. If a stranger comes to visit, they may find that your Russian Blue has slunk off, or is observing from a distance. But, although they can be a little shy around the unfamiliar, this is certainly not the case when they’re with their owner. History
As you’d expect from their name, it is most likely the case that Russian Blue cats originate from Russia. However, this is not known for certain. Although the exact origin story of the breed is not known, we do know that the Russian Blue cats were predominantly bred in Europe, specifically in Scandinavia and Britain.
Personality
Russian Blue cats have a loving and doting nature, which lends itself towards forming strong, life-long bonds with their owners. These cats love spending time with you, and will often be seen to eagerly stick to your side as you wander about the house.
What’s unusual about a Russian Blue, however, is their sense of independence. While they are undoubtedly loving creatures, these cats aren’t completely dependent on their owners 24/7. They can be happily left to chill at home for a couple of hours during the day, then they’ll greet you with a purr when you get back in.
