Introduction

There’s little guessing where Safari cats get their names from. These stunning cats look like they’ve just stepped out of the jungle. They are known for their gorgeous coats, with markings which closely resemble those of a real wild cat.

Safari cats have inherited some of their ancestors’ wilder side, and are notoriously playful little cats. They are also remarkably intelligent, which means both mental and physical stimulation is a key requirement for any Safari owner.

Did you know? Safari cats are the result of a cross breed between standard domestic cats with the Geoffroy’s Cat. The Geoffroy’s Cat is a species of wild cat which are small (typically they are the same size as an average domestic cat) and are originally native to Bolivia, as well as across the South and the Central parts of South America.

History

It’s fair to say that Safari cats have a pretty intriguing genealogy. Safari cats are the result of a cross breed between standard domestic cats with the Geoffroy’s Cat - we weren’t joking when we said that they looked like a miniature jungle cat! The Geoffroy’s Cat is a small breed of wild cat. In fact, they’re actually roughly the same size as your typical domestic cat. These cats are originally native to Bolivia, as well as across the South and the Central parts of South America.

Since this is a very new cross breed, with very few Safari cats currently in existence, we don’t know much about the breed as of yet.

Personality

As you’d expect from a cat that has the wild in its blood, Safari cats are renowned for being playful, inquisitive and active cats.

What you may not expect, however, is that Safari cats are also particularly loving cats. They adore being fussed over, and have demonstrated a firm sense of loyalty to their owners. These cats are more than happy to include you in their pack.
