Introduction

Malayan cats are, in short, an absolute joy. These playful cats spark life into any home environment - in no time at all, you’ll struggle to remember what your life was like without one! These intelligent cats are highly inquisitive, and can often be found investigating their home. They love to have a good nose at what’s going on.

Alongside their fun-filled natures, Malayans are also known for having particularly loving, affectionate personalities. The best type of owner of a Malayan will be one who is just as fond of a cuddle themselves. Malayans love few things more than to curl up on your lap and be stroked. If that sounds like your idea of a perfect evening, then you’re sure to have a doting companion here.

Did you know? Malayans are indisputably adorable, but did you know that they first came about as an accident? These cats were first bred completely by chance, when the Baroness Miranda von Kirchberg accidentally crossed a Chinchilla Persian with a Lilac Burmese.

History

It’s bizarre how accidents happen can happen. You may be surprised to learn that the Malayan breed was first created completely by chance. This occurred in Britain in the 1980s, when the Baroness Miranda von Kirchberg accidentally crossed a Chinchilla Persian with a Lilac Burmese. Just a couple of decades later, in 2005, Malayans were an officially recognised breed, having been granted GCCF Champion status.

Personality

Malayan cats have a whole host of delightful personality traits. Not only are they fun-filled and playful (which makes them a lively addition to a family home), but they are also well known for their affectionate nature. This means that they’ll bring with them lots of life and energy, but also a cosy little companion that fills your family home with love and cuddles.
