Introduction

The Golden Dox breed may not be a breed you know very well or have heard of, and that’s because it’s a rather new hybrid breed that hasn’t yet been officially recognised by Kennel Clubs around the world. That being said, these dogs are still loved by many, especially when you consider they are bred using two of the most beautiful and most lovable dogs around: The Golden Retriever and the Dachshund.

History

Since Golden Doxs are such a new breed, there really isn’t that much history to share. They appeared at some point over the last two decades as designer dog breeding has become more popular, and most likely has happened all over the world at some point, although it’s intentionally beginning to happen more often as breeding standard foundations are being set.

However, we do know a lot about the parent breeds. Golden Retrievers, for example, have been around as we know them since the 1920s when they were used for agility purposes. Dachshunds, on the other hand, have been known to be hunting dogs for many years, and there are records that place them all the way back in the 1900s.

Personality

Since Golden Doxs are still such a hybrid breed, the personality traits of your Golden Dox will very much depend on the parent dogs and what they are like. However, there are some common characteristics that are found among most Golden Doxs.

These include traits like high energy levels and the fact they are incredibly friendly, just like both Golden Retrievers and Dachshunds are. They love being loved and giving love, adore being the centre of attention, and require little training, making these dogs ideal for first-time dog owners!
