Introduction

The Staffador is a hybrid breed that’s a mix of Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Labrador. In short, they offer the best of both breeds in terms of temperament and looks, and with their super-friendly, loyal natures, they are increasingly popular family pets and companions.

History

The exact origins of the Staffador remain up for debate as it’s a combination of breeds that undoubtedly existed in mongrel mixes long before it became a desirable “designer dog” hybrid breed. The first intentional mix was most likely in North America in the 1990s, but the Staffordshire Bull Terrier has ancestry dating back to the 19th century, and the Labrador has origins linked to other breeds that can be traced back as far as the 16th century.

Personality

The Staffador is an energetic, friendly, and sweet-tempered breed that makes a loving companion or fun playmate for active families and individuals. Very outgoing and always eager to please, the Staffador loves to be in the company of its people, especially children, and will happily play, hike, run, or accompany a cycle ride all day before muscling in for a snuggle on the sofa at the end of a busy day.

Care Tips Staffadors are low maintenance in terms of grooming, but exercise needs are high. Grooming: a weekly groom will keep a Staffador’s low-shedding coat tidy, but they may choose to roll in dirt! Feeding: two meals per day of high-quality food. Exercise: at least two hours of exercise is needed each day to keep this high-energy, rambunctious breed happy, ideally with as much free time off the lead as possible, and room to run and play in a secure garden.
