The Jack Tzu is a recent designer dog crossbreed that has started to become popular in the UK. A cross between the Shih Tzu breed and the Jack Russell Terrier breed, these are a new F1 (first generation) breed. Because of this, their history isn't very well known, and their temperament isn't consistent. Nevertheless, they are becoming an increasingly popular breed in the UK and beyond.

The Jacktzu is a cross between the Shih Tzu and a Jack Rusell Terrier. Because it is so new as an F1 breed, there is not a lot of known history of the breed, however we do know that the first litter to be called Jack Tzu were born in Australia in the 1980s. It is likely that prior to that, litters of Jack Tzus had been happening by accident for decades before then. Since then, Jack Tzu have made their way around the world and have become increasingly popular due to their size and general temperament.

As a new crossbreed, there is no standard of temperament for the Jack Tzu. In general, they are seen as intelligent, stubborn, and loving, but other traits come down to the dogs that are used for parentage. Undesired behaviours such as excess barking can be trained out. As a motivated breed with a want to please their owners, Jack Tzu can be trained easily to do a range of tricks. In general, Jack Tzus do not get on with younger children; however, some may get on very well with them under supervision. They are more likely to get on better with older children and other pets.
