Introduction

The Zuchon is a Bichon Frise crossed with a Shih Tzu, creating a cute, playful, and sweet-natured little dog that looks like a teddy bear and will happily fit into any lifestyle in any type of home. People-oriented and affectionate, they are a joy to have around.

History

The Zuchon’s origins are unknown, but like other “designer dogs” and popular hybrids, the first intentional mix was most likely in the 1990s and in North America, although it’s a mix of breeds that may already have existed in mongrels. The Bichon Frise has origins dating back to the 17th century in China and the Shih Tzu’s origins go way back to Spanish ancestors in the 16th century.

Personality

The combination of the Bichon Frise’s affectionate, outgoing personality and the Shih Tzu’s confidence and friendliness creates a super-sociable bundle of fun that makes the Zuchon an increasingly popular family pet and companion. Both parents are people-oriented, fun-loving breeds, so it’s no surprise that the Zuchon loves to follow its people around and be involved in everything that’s going on. They are charming, playful, entertaining little dogs that love to be the centre of attention, and they offer, fun, friendship, and undying loyalty.
