Introduction

Frugs, or Frenchie Pugs, are relatively old in terms of designer dog breeds and have become somewhat iconic over the years. If you’ve watched television shows or movies, then the chances are you’ve seen someone carrying one of these dogs around a mansion or in their handbag.

Frugs are bred by mixing French Bulldogs and Pugs, both iconic dogs in themselves, which come together to create this lovely, adorable-looking dog that’s ideal for many dog owners who want something small and sweet.

History

Since Frugs are quite recent dogs, there’s really not that much history to share. Records, although limited, show that the breed started to appear at some point throughout the early 1900s, and have become incredibly popular ever since.

The parent breeds, on the other hand, have been around for centuries, and are some of the closest companionship dogs that humans have ever had. Pugs, for example, have records that date them back all the way to 200BC in China, where they were popular among wealthy Asian households.

Personality

Because Frugs aren’t yet considered to be purebreds and are still classed as hybrids, which means their temperaments are pretty unstable and will depend massively on the parent breeds for each individual litter. That being said, some of the common characteristics we’re seeing are traits like Frugs being eager to please and very sociable, but training can be very difficult, so be prepared to put in the time

Due to their small size, Frenchie Pugs are suitable for any kind of living, even if you’re living in a small apartment or flat. Just make sure you’re socialising them when possible because these pugs have been to get a little destructive when they’re starved of affection.
