Introduction

Small, loving, and high-energy (at least until they get tired) Cava Tzus are great dogs to have around if you’re a family of any size, single, a couple, or have children. The words kind and good-natured don’t even begin to cover just how lovely this dog can be.

Cava Tzus are non-pure bred crossbreeds that come from Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Shih Tzu dogs, but appearances can vary a fair bit, depending on which breed is the most dominant. This means Cava Tzus are available in a rainbow array of colours and sizes, so if you’re looking for a specific dog, a Cava Tzu is a breed with a ton of choice.

History

Cava Tzus are a very recent breed to burst into the popular scene and have only really been around since the early 2000s. Bred specifically as companion pets, these dogs weren’t working dogs, well, ever, which means they only really know how to love.

However, the parent breeds have been known throughout human history. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was bred and made popular throughout the 1600s as far back as King Charles I, which is where the breed gets its name. Shih Tzus have been popular throughout China for centuries, especially in countries like Tibet.

Personality

Due to their passive heritage, Cava Tzus are incredibly loving and kind and are happiest when spending time with their family. Since they’re so friendly, Cava Tzus are great with strangers and other dogs, as well as being around children of all ages. Their small size means they’re not too stompy for young children.

Since Cava Tzus don’t need a lot of exercise, they’re easy to look after and will be satisfied after a short walk and some ball games in the garden. Cava Tzus are also infrequently loud, easy to train, and their love for positive reinforcement makes them very eager to please!
